For the past decade an more, I have been involved in live roleplay and particular with the musical side on it. Over the course of this involvement, I discovered a new joy in music and, it appears, an aptitude for writing.
Live music is an odd beast, often changing to suit the mood and the situation. With that in mind, nothing on this album is intended as a definitive version. Rather, they serve two purposes.
Firstly, tracks 1-13 are intended to reflect a story, when taken all together. This story may not be what the songs were originally written for, nor is it necessarily what they will mean tomorrow. I'm sure I could embellish on that more, but apparently some people enjoy the crypticness.
Secondly, they represent what felt right at the time of recording, whether it be just me getting a sudden burst of inspiration after take 5 of the same vocal track, or an exhortation to one of my contributers to do that again, only with more...more.
Tracks 14 and 15 showcase the work of Sue Rickard, who has been a great sounding board for ideas over the years, both in collaboration (14) and solo (15).
All profits from this album will go to the Lorien Trust Bards Guild; a place where, between melting some people's minds, enlightening others, and beating yet others with a big stick, people have chimed in and done some weird and wonderful things with my and other people's music. Long may it continue.
